Holiday Nog
Suitable for all starseeds - a plant-based twist on traditional eggnog. Vegan and dairy free, this creamy drink will comfort and ground you during the holiday season. The turmeric adds colour but is also anti-inflammatory, activating your solar plexus and sacral chakras.
Yield: Approx 2 cups of nog
Ingredients:
½ cup split raw cashews (regular cashews are fine too, I find split easier to blend)
2 cups coconut milk
3 tbsp maple syrup
1 ripe banana, cut into smaller pieces
½ tsp vanilla bean paste or extract
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
¾ tsp dried turmeric
Cinnamon sticks + toasted coconut flakes, for garnish (optional)
Method:
1 - Place all ingredients into a blender. Blend until smooth.
2 - Chill in fridge or serve right away. Pour into glasses, garnish with cinnamon sticks and a pinch of toasted coconut flakes if desired.
NOTE: You can omit the banana completely if that is not your thing. You can also substitute the maple syrup for the same amount of coconut sugar (3 tbsp) or 2 dates, cut into small pieces.
